Since
1986 when I first started producing the
Wiggy’s Brand of Sleeping Bags my Motto
has been “Simply the Best!” I believe
that my customers have truly taken me to
task, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt
that the Statement is True. I knew from
the beginning the Insulating Medium that
I chose to use would be critical to
Wiggy’s Success. Based upon the
knowledge I acquired during my previous
25 years spent working in the Fiberfill
Industry, Continuous Filament Fiber was
without question the best there was and
the Only way to go for me. By applying
the lamination Process to the fiber;
Lamilite was created, thus I was able to
use the Continuous Filament Fiber in an
Economical and Highly Effective
Manufacturing Method. The simple fact
that Lamilite is Not Quilted allows, for
a more Uniform Loft, allowing for Better
Insulation. Additionally, when Lamilite
is laundered, Re-Lofting of the Fibers
actually occurs because the Fiber is not
restricted by the Quilting.
I can speak in
great detail about the Textile Industry
since I have worked in it Continuously
for the last 47 Years. In 1961 I
started working in the Textile Industry
selling Interlinings (insulation) to
Outerwear Manufacturers. Among the few
available was a new Nylon Fiberfill that
could be used without First Quilting
it! The next product was Polyester
Fiberfill that replaced the Nylon. In
1964 the manufacturers were actually
making three garments and layering them
to make one, so I decided to try
Laminating the Fiberfill to either the
Outer Shell or to the Inner Lining, so
that a Two Layer Garment could be made.
But I encountered one basic problem;
either the fiberfill which was Self
Supporting (could withstand laundering
when sewn into a garment Un-Quilted)
would laminate fine but the finish was
both Stiff and the surface was Wavy. It
was possible to Laminate Quilt Quality
Fiberfill that was Soft and Smooth but
it would not stay together when
Laundered. Fortunately, in 1968 while I
was representing a Fiberfill
Manufacturer, they made a deal with the
Celanese Corporation to produce a
Continuous Filament Fiberfill, called
Polarguard. I brought some to our
laminating division at the company and
told the Plant Manager its
characteristics and had him Laminate
it. The end result was a package that
was Both Soft and had a Smooth Surface
and could withstand being Laundered.
What was born that day was the Fore
Runner of todays Lamilite.
I then opened a Laminating Company where
I Built a Machine with the Specific
Capability to Laminate Continuous
Filament Fiber. At the time I serviced
the Glove/Mitten Industry and a few
Jacket Makers. In 1986 I was capable of
Laminating the Un-Bonded Continuous
Filament Fiber Product and I decided to
call my New Product Lamilite, since the
Product was both Laminated and Very
Light. I then started making Sleeping
Bags under the Wiggy’s Label. It was
then that I knew Wiggy’s was making the
Very Best Sleeping Bags in the World!
Today Wiggy’s is the Single Largest
Producer of Sleeping Bags in the World
and Wiggy’s are Guaranteed to work as
advertised, if not better. Hence our
motto “SIMPLY THE BEST”!

WIGGY’S GUARANTEE: Our Guarantee is
for a Lifetime of use. If a seam opens,
the zipper breaks or the Lamilite
Insulation Deteriorates (such as losing
its loft or separating, clumping in one
place or another), Wiggy’s will repair
or replace your bag at no charge to
you. At this time, I know of no
Sleeping Bag Manufacturer that would
even consider such a Guarantee. The
reason is simple: they already know the
Insulation they use Will Deteriorate.
If you have ever compared information
from the different Sleeping Bag and
Extreme Cold Weather Garment
Manufacturers, you will see that they
have Never Guaranteed the Insulation. I
will explain why only Wiggy’s can make
such a Guarantee. The single most
important component of any Insulated
Product, be it a Sleeping Bag, Parka,
Bib, Snowsuit, Booties or Mittens, is
the Insulation inserted into these
products. All Insulated Wiggy’s Products
have ONLY one Insulator, LAMILITE!
Lamilite is the best material developed
thus far, for use as Insulation for
Sleeping Bags or Outerwear!
